Object Description
Red velvet hat (fez). Part of woman's costume. Trimmed in a strip of gold and black Greek key design that boarders the fez. Above and below the Greek key there are wavy strips of gold fabric. At the top of the hat where the tassel attaches the gold fabric makes two small circles. The tassel is attached by orange cotton braided thread. The inside is lined with white polyester.
Origin
Donated by Coula Papadatos. The hat was most likely worn as part of a women's costume. Whom wore it is unknown. The costume would have been worn for traditional/folk Greek functions.
