Object Description
Handmade fringed red blanket with black geometric designs (Greek key and others). The fringe and the design are located on both the top and bottom of the blanket. The fringe is about 1" long and pink in color. The design is set between two black lines on the blanket, and consists of four Greek Key shapes located in a rectangle with a diamond in the middle. The outside edges are connected to the opposite edge of the outside of the Greek Key design on the next rectangle, creating an X in the middle. This X has four solid black diamonds between its arms. The design is repeated. There is a seam up the middle of the blanket, where the two loomed pieces were connected.
Origin
The accession file reads: "Donated to the Hellenic Museum by Mrs. Anna Morfettas, who brought this with her when she came from Greece in 1920." Katherine Morfettas, the donor, was born in 1925 in Chicago to Anna and Andrew Morfettas.
