Object Description
A cream hand emrboidered guest towel. The towel is linen with an embroidered ship with yellow, orange and blue flags. Guest towel. The ship has three masts with yellow, orange and blue sails and is above a litte blue line of embroidered water. The ship seems to be a galley, with little oars sewn out of the hull.
Origin
Donated by Helen Costas. The ship on the towel looks like an anicnet Greek trireme. Triremes are ships with three banks of oars. Triremes are galleys, with rowers sticking out of the hull. Triremes were usually used in ancient Mediterranean civilizations, especially by the Phoenicians, anicent Greeks and Romans.
