Object Description
Rectangular lace table runner, with floral designs in beige thread. The center has a diamond with nine flowers in it: three on each side and one in the center. Outside of this, there is a white oval with flowers and leaves made of the blank areas inside of it. There is a diamond with nine flowers to either side of this design, and the rest of the free space is filled with flowers. There is an attached edge that is slightly scalloped.
Origin
Lace is a type of fabric made with an open weblike pattern. Lace became popular in the late 16th century. During the 19th century, machines took over the commercial manufacture of lace. This lace appears to have a net, which acted as a base for the threads to be attached to.
