The pillar is obviously a part of some ruins, as the roof above the pillar is incomplete. Another pillar can be seen to the left with a section of wall in between. There is a strip of stone between the two pillars that continues to the left. It also gets taller above the left pillar. The sky to the right and above the pillar is blue. The pillar is fluted.

This pillar represents one of Ionic Order, which was used in the second level of the Colosseum. These types of columns originated in Ionia, which was settled by Ionian Greeks. It was most popular in Greece during the Archaic Period, from 750-480 BC.
