Color photograph of the inside of St. Nicholas Albanian Church in Chicago. The photo is of the weeping Mary. There is a black fence around her with a golden handrail at the top. Above her, there is a stand specifically built to hold more candles from golden holders with chains. There are flowers surrounding her. She is wearing a red and blue robe, while holding a full-grown Jesus wearing a gold and white robe while holding a scroll. There are other panels of religious figures along the wall, and still more can be seen in the background. There is a burning candle on a stand to the right of the fence.
Origin
St. Nicholas Albanian Church was founded in 1944. Their first church building was purchased in 1947. The founders were from the southeastern part of Albania, a city called Korca. They are said to have an icon of Mother Mary that weeps as though by a miracle. Many visitors come to see this icon.
