Object Description
Color photograph of the inside of St. Nicholas Albanian Church in Chicago. There are potted plants on the ground. Along the walls, there are pictures of Mary and Jesus. In the middle, there is an enclave with a table that has four candles, as well as golden rods with sun-shaped disks on the end. In the middle, therei s a golden object with a cross on top. There is a picture of Mary in the background. The walls of the church appear to be mostly golden colored. There is a dark red piece of carpet leading to the table. There are candles hanging from the walls on the right and left sides.
Origin
St. Nicholas Albanian Church was founded in 1944. Their first church building was purchased in 1947. The founders were from the southeastern part of Albania, a city called Korca. They are said to have an icon of Mother Mary that weeps as though by a miracle. Many visitors come to see this icon.
