Object Description
Black and white photograph of the inside of a church, presumably SS Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church. The photo is taken from the inside facing the doors, and is nicely framed in an arch. there are three sets of double doors, each with an exit sign above them. There is a clock between the door on the left and the center door. The space is made of four arches, which form a domed square. In between the side arches, there is a balcony. Above the door there is a painting with people in robes on the left, a man with a halo holding a child in the middle, and women with children on the right. Above this painting, there are five rectangular windows with rounded tops. The arches have the Greek Cross design on them.the photo is on a black piece of paper which has faded to a brown color on the front.
Origin
The Greek Orthodox Church is governed by a council of Bishops, called the Holy Synod. They are known for their tradition of iconography, and their use of the Divine Liturgy on Sundays.

Helen was the mother of Constantine. They are credited with placing Christianity at the heart of Western civilization. Helen is noted for her piety while Constantine was an Emperor in the Roman Empire when Christianity was becoming the dominant religion.
