Object Description
This is a photo of the inside of SS Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, taken at an angle from the back right corner of the church. A painting of a man with a long white beard and dark colored robes is visible on the ceiling. There are arches across the left side of the photograph, which go down in the middle, turning one arch into two. In the middle of the top arches, there are circular paintings of religious figures. Above the arches, there are windows that are rounded at the top. Between every third window there are more paintings of religious figures. There are two chandeliers hanging from the ceiling of the church. There are lights on all of the pillars of the arches, which can be visible on the pillars on the right as well. In the front, there are four stands that look as though they each hold three candles. The front of the church also has three arches, the middle of which is the biggest with a religious figure at the top. On either side, the arches look as though they have the organ pipes in it. There is writing in Greek at the bottom of the photograph, and it is on brownish paper that is black on the back. Black and white photograph.
Origin
The Greek Orthodox Church is governed by a council of Bishops, called the Holy Synod. They are known for their tradition of iconography, and their use of the Divine Liturgy on Sundays.

Helen was the mother of Constantine. They are credited with placing Christianity at the heart of Western civilization. Helen is noted for her piety while Constantine was an Emperor in the Roman Empire when Christianity was becoming the dominant religion.
