Object Description
Photographic print, color. The photo features a large parade float, with a man a top a model horse, dressed in a Greek military fustanella, Epiknemides, black shoes with pom poms, and a gold and red vest. On his head is a shiny silver colored crown-like headpiece with a red, gold and white symbol in the center. In his hand he holds up a saber. On either side of him are two other men, both wearing full pleated fustanellas with red fez hats, red and gold vests, deep red and gold sash belts, and the man on the left side has a cloth with blue and white stripes hanging off his belt.
Around the men to the front, and one behind, there are young girls wearing traditional Greek clothing. There is faux grass, and a an arch behind them. The arch has a sign that reads "General T.K..." but is partially obscured by the arm of the man on the horse. The sign most likely reads "General T. Kolokotronis" in reference to a general who served in the war for Greek Independence. The horse model stands a top a platform decorated with white tinsle or some similar type of material. It has text in blue that reads: "[Ko]lokotronis won for the Gree[ks] [th]eir most charsihed human right Liberty!"

The photo is most likely from the annual Greek Indepedence Day Parade held in Chicago around the end of March. The man on the horse statue is most likely portraying General Theodoros Kolokotronis
