Object Description
The black and white photograph comes inside a folded piece of paper with Greek lettering printed on it. This is then placed inside an envelope with Greek handwritting on the front. The photo depicts a seated woman and a man standing behind her. It appears to be a wedding photo. The woman is dressed in a gown and the man is wearing a suit with a bowtie. Behind them is a plant. The photo was professionally done, there is an inscription in the bottom right hand corner. The back of the photograph is a post card layout. There is a spot in the top right hand corner for a stamp and there is Greek handwritting the top left corner. There are scraps of black paper sticking to back as well as dryed glue. The paper that the photo comes in opens horizontally with a pocket on the right hand side to keep the photo from falling out. There is Greek lettering printed on the inside of the paper as well as on the folder sleeve. The envelope is faded white with Greek handwritting on the front in blue ink.
Origin
The photograph is of the donor's great-grandfather and great-grandmother. The headpiece that the donor's great-grandmother wears may reflect the Greek tradition of the Wedding Stefana, in which the bride and/or groom wear these with ribbons attached to represent crowns.
