8" x 10" black and white photograph of Richard J. Daley and Archbishop lakovas shaking hands during the first Chicago Greek Independance parade on State Street in 1967. Constantine Stamis (donor) can be seen on right hand side. Two ink stamps on the back of photographer and developer.
Origin
photograph of Mayor Richard J. Daley and Archbishop lakovas shaking hands during the first Chicago Greek Independance Parade to celebrate the Greek Declaration of Independance of 1821. Mayor Richard J. Daley was currently in the middle of his term as mayor, came from a heavy Irish background in the South Side of Chicago. Archbishop lakovas is the leader of the Greek Orthodox Church in the United States.
