Object Description
Wedding photo of Konstantinon(?) Bouzios and Stofotoulos Karopoulo. Chicago, April 1913.

Black and white photograph of a wedding and the people who presumedly attended/participated in the wedding. There is some sort of blurry, unidentifiable building in the background and to the right. They all seem to be standing/sitting on a dirt/gravel path of some sort. There are around 4 rows of people. All dressed in nice, modest dresses, or suit coats and ties. They all are posed and looking at the camera, not smiling.

On the back of the photograph, there is Greek text written, which is believed to describe what the photo is. The second line may be "28 April 1913". At the bottom, is the brother's name, "Nick Bouzios, 773-586-2939".

It is unknown who these people are and/or if they are of any importance to AHEPA. AHEPA was founded in 1922, 9 years after this wedding/photograph.

The American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA) is the largest and oldest American-based, Greek heritage grassroots membership organization. Its scope is international with chapters in the United States, Canada, Greece, and Cyprus, and "sister" chapters in Australia and New Zealand under the auspices of AHEPA Australasia.

AHEPA was founded on July 26, 1922 in response to the evils of bigotry and racism that emerged in early 20th century American society. It also helped Greek immigrants assimilate into society.

Today, AHEPA brings the ideals of ancient Greece, which includes philanthropy, education, civic responsibility, and family and individual excellence to the community.

Although a majority of the membership is composed of Americans of Greek descent, application for membership is open to anyone who believes in the mission of the organization.
