Object Description
Black and white photograph of President Harry Truman and Patriarch elect Athenagoras. The men are shaking hands and Athenagoras has his other hand on the back of President Trumans head. President Truman is leaning forward and Athenagoras is kissing his forehead.
Origin
Donated by Steve Frangos. Athenagoras was Archbishop of North and South America when he was elected Patriarch. President Truman lent him Air Force One to fly to Istanbul. Circa late 1940's
