Object Description
A black and white photograph of a family at dinner. There is an older man and woman, and for teenaged looking children. They are sitting around a table which has a floral printed table cloth. In the background there is a wooden cabinet. The oldest looking man is wearing a white shirt, patterned tie, black pants, and white apron. The oldest looking woman is wearing a stripped shirt and apron. The two boys nearest her are both wearing white shirts. The next boy is wearing a patterned shirts, and the young woman is wearing a stripped sweater and black bottoms.
Origin
Anna K. Keramaianakis(mother of donor) (10/26/1904-10/16/1984) married Kyriakos V. Petrakis (1/1889-1/1968). Anna lived in Spilia, Crete. Her grandfather sold olives in the city of Chania. Anna and her mother and sisters raised silk worms and sold the thread they spun. Anna's aunts arranged an engagement. She and Kyriakos were married on July 28th, 1926. On August 15, 1926 they left Crete for Athens. On September 2nd, 1926, they left for American on baord the "Avera." On October 5th, 1926, they arrives at Ellis Island in New York.
