A colored of thirteen red cross ladies standing in front of Phillos Candy shop. There are five boys crouched in front of the women, and three men who are standing with the women. There is a sign hanging outside of the candy store which reads, " Entire Receipts To-day goes to the American Red Cross." The caption at the bottom of the picture reads, "Red Cross Ladies in front of Phillos' Candy Shop, July 24th, 1918. Entire day's receipts $335.00 were donated to the Red Cross by Mr. C.D. Phillos."
The Phillos confectionary store and Princess Confectionary Store were both owned by Christ Phillos. These stores were located in Bloomington, Il. The pictures were taken by Jeo Phillos in the early 1900s.
On Wednesday, July 24th, 1918, All the Phillos' Candy Shop proceeds went to the American Red Cross. The candy shop raised $335.00 to donate towards the war.
