Formal portrait of Lt. Col. Peter A. Machinis, US Army Corps of Engineers during WWII.
Col. Machinis entered military service in 1943 serving as an Intelligence officer with the 381st Bomb Group in the European Theater of Operations with the 8th Air Force.
He had been honored with the European Theater of Operations Ribbon with four bronze stars, as well as a Presidential Unit citation and Commendation from headquarters of the 1st Combat Combardment Wing.
Machines was with the US Army Corps of Engineers for 38 years serving the Chicago District and North Central Division headquarters.
He retired in 1972 with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
