Origin
Chicago designer Becky Bisoulis, 56, who made a national name for herself designing romantic, sophisticated lace clothing, including many wedding gowns, died of brain cancer Sunday. (August 1994)

One of the first major fashion designers to come out of Chicago, the Evanston-born Ms. Bisoulis made antique lace her trademark, often combining it with other fabrics.

The statuesque designer - probably best captured in a Victor Skrebneski portrait, an elegant braid draped down her back - never married. She had been a well-respected and well-liked personality in the local apparel community since launching her line in the mid-1970s out of her apartment.
