Object Description
A photo of a man, possibly John Bouris, and a woman. He is wearing a tuxedo with a flower boutonniere. She is wearing a pink top with a flower pattern on the bottom, a long pearl necklace and a flower and ribbon corsage.
Origin
John Bouris was born in Tegea, Tripoli Greece in 1929 and as a child he helped on the family farm and would help his mother with kneading the bread and washing the clothes. Once he finished school he was in the Greek Army as a lieutenant. In 1957 he traveled to Toronto, Canada and worked at Spimpson's Department stores as a bus boy. While there he went to school at night to learn english. In 1962 he moved to Chicago and got married. He started to work at Solo Cup Company as a machine operator and when to night school to become a machinist. He became one of their best trouble shooter machinist and the company made videos of him to show the new employees. In 1996 he retired after 34 years of working there. Once retired he renovated the home, helped out with grandchildren, had a garden, planted a peach tree, and he loved to cook. John passed away in 2006.
