Object Description
Black and white portrait of smiling wrestler standing in front of tall wooden fence. He has short dark hair and is wearing black wrestling trunks, at least 2 belts with large buckles, and no shirt. He is posing, holding another wrestling belt that appears to be made of 10 metal plates linked together with a larger metal medallion/plate in the center.
Origin
Standing just 5’8” and weighing only 200 pounds, "The Golden Greek," Jim Londos (real name Christopher Theophelus), was not an imposing figure; but he would become one of the greatest World Champions of all-time, reigning as Professional Wrestling’s first major drawing card while also becoming one of America’s most famous athletes.
