Sepia toned photograph, large group photo taken at a community picnic. These annual events were important fundraising events for Greek Orthodox parishes and served to provide social interaction among Greeks of Chicago. Since WWII, these events have evolved into Greek Festivals lasting 2-3 days taking place in the summer and bringing in much needed revenues. A typical Greek picnic in the mid 1920's (note the formal dress) showing leaders of Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church and their families.
