Object Description
Members of the Philoptochos Sisterhood singing around a piano. The group served as the forerunner of all Greek women's organizations in Chicago such as the Philomusical Society, the Greek Women's University Club, and the extensive Philoptochos Society which has chapters in most of the city's Greek Orthodox parishes. The first Greek women's organization in Chicago, the Philoptochos Sisterhood, was organized at the Hull-House under the patronage of Jane Addams and Miss Neukon, a resident of Hull-House.
