Object Description
A Greek American patriotic rally in 1925 marking Greek Independence on March 25th. Shown in the center of the photograph is Bishop Philaretos, the first resident bishop of Chicago, and Fr. Constans Demetry. Between them is attorney Paul Demos and in the left foreground is poet Demetrios Micharlaros. The annual observance of Greek Independence Day has always been a major event in the Chicago Greek community.  It was usually commemorated with city-wide programs and festivities sometimes at Medinah Temple and other times at the Chicago Opera House under the auspices of Greek Orthodox churches and organizations.
