Object Description
Black and White print of Helene Alexopoulos-Warrick dancing as "Autumn" in "The Four Seasons".
Origin
Helene Alexopoulos-Warrick was a principle dancer for the New York City Ballet for 24 years. Ms. Alexopoulos started studying ballet in Chicage at the age of 6. Starting at age 14, she began studying with Maria Tallchief, a former NYCB Principal Dancer. In 1977, she came to New York to study at the School of American Ballet on scholorship, and became an apprentice to the company later that year. She joined NYCB as a member of the corps de ballet in 1978. She was promoted to Soloist in 1984, and became a Principal Dancer in 1989. She has danced numerous roles, Principal, Soloist, and corps. Her father was a director of the import and export division of the Greek Department of Commerce in Athens. She married Lance Aldan Warrick in 1985 and had two children, something very uncommon for a woman in the dance world.
