From donor: Approach to Karpenisi. 98.5 km from Agrinion. On Mt Timfristos. In the foreground to the left is [a bust of] Selden R. Edner, the American airman whose plane was shot down by the Communists in 1949, and killed. Next to him is the Greek airman Panayiotis Elias Tsoukas (Episminarchos) who was with Edner in this recommaissance mission over Karpenisi, which was then held by the guerrillas. These were erected by the Americans from Eurytania through their society "Enosis Eurytaneon."
