Object Description
A black and white photograph depicting eight people (six are standing and the other two are crouching) in a rural area. There is a donkey and two buildings on vegetation-covered hills in the background. To the right is a car with a person standing next to it.
Origin
From donor: Village Botamoula about 30 km from Agrionon on the road to Karpenision. The picture shows a peasant family after threshing, filling the sacks with wheat. Note the respect displayed by the children watching their parents work. Husband and wife at same job. The wheat is on home woven spreads. The donkey next to the pile of straw seems to be aware that I was taking his picture. The little girl in the foreground has a cross, which shows the piety of the family. She is neatly dressed as are the rest of the children. This picture shows the noecocyrosyni of the Greek family, an important attribute in the economy of Greece. The woman hid deliberately behind her husband when I was taking the picture. Typical modesty and reserve of the Greek peasant woman.
