Object Description
A newspaper article has been collaged onto a manila page alongside other clippings to create a book. The article is written in English and printed in black ink. The newspaper includes five black-and-white photographs accompanied by additional text located under each image. At the top of the newspaper page is the article's publisher which reads "The Commercial Tribune." To the left, top corner is the newspaper section which reads, "Gravure Section." To the right, in the top corner, is the article's date reading: "Cincinnati, Ohio, Sunday, October 24, 1920." Underneath the newspaper's publisher is the article's title which reads as "A Section of Artistic Photographs from the Greek Government Exhibition now being held at the Cincinnati Art Museum in Eden Park." The five photographs are below the article title. From left to right, the first image portrays two individuals standing outside an archway with people inside the building. Underneath the image is additional text which reads "The Church of St. George. One of the Byzantine Churches of Salonica. Built in the 4th Century." In the center of the article is a photograph of a temple placed upon a hill. Below the image is text which reads, "The Acropolis of Athens viewed from the west. A song of marble rising among violet hills toward great masses of clouds." To the right is an image showcasing three individuals standing near an assumed well or fountain, as the middle figure is pouring water into the vases on the tile floor. Below the image of the three individuals is a paragraph of text that reads, "The Fountain of Empress Elizabeth, Corfu." The fourth image, located in the bottom left corner, is a landscape image of a city on a port. The text underneath reads, "The Piraeus, the Port of Athens, the fourth busiest harbor in the Mediterranean, coming after Genoa." The fifth image, located in the bottom right-right corner displays a landscape view of a tower with a port and boats in the ocean. Underneath the image of the tower is text which reads as "Salonica with the "White Tower" in the foreground. The capital city of Macedonia and the third largest city of Greece."
