Object Description
A newspaper page of an article typed with black ink and written in English is collaged onto a manila page and other clippings to create a book. The article, written by Marie Economidy, is titled "Delicious Fragments of Sappho's Poetry Remain," seen at the top of the article. Above the article's title is the newspaper publisher and date, which reads, "The Galveston Daily News, Sunday, August 22, 1920." The article is large, consisting of a black and white photographic image of an individual lounging on a rock, dressed in ancient Greek attire, and a crossword puzzle on the far left-hand side. Underneath the photograph is additional text that reads, "Sappho meditating her leap from the Leucadian Rock, hoping to cure herself of the passion that burned in her breast."
