Object Description
An aged newspaper clipping of an article typed with black ink. The article is titled "King Honors Houstonian" with a black and white photograph of Mrs. Marie H. Economidy dressed in a polka dot outfit. The article reads, Mrs. Marie H. Economidy, a former resident of Houston, has been honored by King Paul of Greece for the work she has done in rebuilding orphanages in Greece and for establishing an English Language for children in Athens. Mrs. Economidy has been awarded the diploma of Creative Ethic Reward and has been given a gold medal by the king. A native of Greece, Mrs. Economidy decided to return to Athens more than a year ago after the death of her husband, H. Economidy, in Galveston and of her only son. Maj Byron H. Economidy, in World War II. She was active in many service organizations in Houston and since her return to Greece has done much service work." At the end of the article is a photograph with the words, "Mrs. Marie H. Economidy Honored in Greece."
