Object Description
A typed letter of recommendation dated August 19, 1948. The letter is written in English and composed of paper and black ink. Located in the top left corner are the words, "United States National Bank, Galveston, Texas. Along the edges, left-side, is the words copy in caps lock. The letter reads, "States Department Washington D.C. or To who it may concern (typed all in caps locks). Gentlemen: I have known Mrs. Maria Economidy for a number of years, She is a woman of more than usual ability, highly educated, with a sense of loyalty to our Government, and of individual integrity that I believe should thoroughly commend her for the position which I understand she wishes to seek in the United States Department. During her resident in Texas she has contributed her time and talents effectively to educational, philanthropic and civic organization and work, in which she she been a factor and both mental and physical force. This letter is written at her requests and I am subject to endeavoring to reply to any questions you may ask in connections with the lady's application. Yours very truly," illegible signature. On the left-hand-side, next to the T, is the number 11.
