Object Description
A typed letter addressed to Senator Tomas Terry Connally, located in Washington, D.C. The letter is six paragraphs long and is dated February 11, 1949. At the central top of the page, located to the right of the date is an address written in cursive handwriting, reading "1817-21st street. Galveston, Texas." the letter reads, "Dear Senator: I am very anxious to go to Greece with some of the "Aid to Greece" project. I feel that I am peculiarly fitted to render valuable service for I have loved many years in American and I know Greece well. My greatest pride is that I am one of the few immigrants who discovered for themselves the ideals upon which America is built, and prospered as the result. In my early youth I visited forty-six states studying the conditions that surround the Greeks in America,  work that took me to mines and other industries, the results of which I have put into a book form. In 1920 I was elected, because of my classical education, to direct the Greek Government exhibition. Museums and Universities gave it shelter for its educational value was great. I lectured in connection with it. It was the same Exhibition which was displayed in Paris during the Peace Conference, so planned as to show the continuity of Greece, in the effort to prove our just claims over disputed areas. During the following years, I have been active in the communities I lived in and always my pursuits have been cultured. I have no technical training but I have many abilities in some of which I excel. I can make a good adjuster of complaints knowing the Greeks well as I do and familiar as I am with the American spirit of doing things. I can translate rapidly form the one language to the other. I can assume any position of trust. My most valuable possession is an inexhaustible spirit of service, ever alert whenever the opportunity arises."
