Object Description
A certificate awarded by Greek school of Socrates. The diploma is printed on beige stationery with orange border surrounding the text printed with black ink. In the middle of the document is the image of an owl printed on black ink. The document is written all in Greek, reads, " Greek school Socrates, full six grade Greek American Schools of the Association of the Greek Community of Chicago. Indicative, The student Georgios A. Papagelis from Sparta, 12 years old, who attend all the Greek and English classes taught in class E! of his school during the year 1940..1941, who attend all the Greek and English classes taught in the third grade of this school during the school year 1938..1939, was promoted to the ET! with a grade of Very good. His conduct was Apigin in Chicago, Illinois, 19 of June, 1941." The document is sign by the teacher and principle located at the bottom.
