Object Description
Baptismal favor (marterika) made of three silk color ribbons joined together with a central bronze colored cross in the center and a pin in the back meant to attach onto clothing.
Origin
The object is owned by the Powers family and is connected to other items and photographs within the same collection. Martyrika is Greek for "a sign of witnessing". They are small lapel crosses given as handouts at the end of an Orthodox baptism. They are meant to be worn by the guests as proof of witnessing the baptism.
