Object Description
A small oval icon that depicts two military saints, possibly Saints Theodore Tyron and Theodore Stratelates riding horses with the Greek inscription located near the saints heads. The saints are dressed in Roman military armor with capes and are placed behindĀ plain landscape. The back is composed of a solid blue color with a small rope which allows the icon to be hanged.
Origin
The object is owned by the Powers family and is connected to other items and photographs from the same collection. Travel or portable icons are meant to be carried and hung in areas such as rear-view mirrors or attached to backpacks and suitcases. They are meant to ward off evil and keep the holder safe in their travels.
