Object Description
Black and white photograph of several people standing in a candy store. The sign in the window advertises "Plain Chocolate with Whipped Cream."
Origin
Gust Polites (possibly the person in the hat leaning against the cigar counter) partnered with his brother-in-law, George Deamantopoulos (possibly the person in the hat behind the cigar counter), and his brothers to open candy stores throughout Chicago. The group eventually purchased corner lots and constructed two to three story office buildings with stores on the street level and opening the corner store as a cigar, candy, and ice cream restaurant. When the Great Depression hit, many of these buildings were lost to creditors.

Christ Molls, age approximately 18, is wearing the white shirt and vest with a bow tie.

Virginia Munger Femedis was a cousin to Christ Molls and is possibly the young girl standing next to Molls.
