Object Description
Exit papers for Vasiliki (Bessie) Georgiou Augoustidis from Constantinople in 1920. Bessie (the donor's grandmother) was brought to Piraeus and traveled to America on the ship Themistocles.She was a single woman traveling as a first class passenger under the protection of Travelers Aid. She arrived in New York City on October 22, 1920 to meet her fiancé (George) who came to America in 1914 through Ellis Island. The document has many creases from fold lines and is held together by tape in several places. It includes a photograph of Bessie as well as entry and exit stamps from Turkey, Greece, and the United States.
