Object Description
This heavy wool vest was worn by the donor along with the bodice and apron from the same accession. Individually, the pieces are likely from different time periods. This vest is in very good condition and was hand sewn. Strings were added at some point during the vest's lifetime to keep the vest tied together in front. A pocket was also added on the inner left side of the vest. There is some staining on the interior pocket as well as the outer bottom right side of the vest with minor foxing throughout the inside of the vest.
Origin
This garment comes originally from Thebes and was worn by several generations of family members to church and celebrations such as weddings. The donor wore it while teaching Greek School for the Assumption Church in Madison, Wisconsin and celebrating Greek Independence.
