Object Description
Small doll wearing a black short sleeved dress and a long white blouse, holding some wool on a stick. The black dress has stripes on the bottom part, which are turquoise, yellow, and pink. There is a blue waistband held in the back by a green sequin. There is a green and golden ribbon that makes a V in the front and back of the top part of the dress. The sleaves have a wavey white border. The white blouse has wide sleeves that have a green and a pink border at the bottom of them. She is wearing white stockings with green, golden, and peach ribbons around the ankles. She has a red cloth in her hair that is secured in the back and on the top of her head by a green sequin. There are four coins attached to her bodice with green sequins. She has red plastic shoes, and her hair is brown and put into double braids. There is a sticker on the back of her legs that says "Return to: Elaine Fotopoulos, 202 Briarwood Loop, Oak Brook, IL 60521"
Origin
The doll appears to be in the process of spinning wool. This is the process of turning wool fibers into yarn. Wool would be held in the left hand, while the right hand would draw out fibers and fix them to the stick. Then a whirling motion would be used in order to twist the fibers into yarn.
