Object Description

This cloth doll is dressed in red shoes with black poms, white stockings, a plaid skirt, plaid shirt, and a brown cape with a hood. The doll has blonde hair and a mustache. The doll was donated by Irene R. Oppenheim and was produced in Metsovo, Greece.

Origin
The doll was produced in Metsovo, a town in Epirus and is on the Pindus mountains in northern Greece, between Ioannina to the north and Meteora to the south. It is the largest center of Vlach life in Greece. Vlachs were traditionally shepherds
