Object Description
Round silver-colored medallion with a metal loop attached at the top through which one can run a string or a necklace.  The center is embossed with a large bust of a Greek Orthodox Archbishop.  On his right and on his left, his name is embossed in Greek around the edges.  He is posing almost in profile, wearing a tall cylindrical hat which is wider at the top than the bottom.  A cloth or train is draped over the top of the hat and falls behind his shoulders.   His beard is full and neatly groomed and his vestments appear to have multiple layers with robes visible over his collared shirt.

There appears to be some oxidation or rainbow-like coloring on the face of the medallion.
Origin
Silver medallion of Archbishop Makarios of Cyprus. Archbishop Makarios was born in 1913 and died in 1977. He was also the first President of the Republic of Cyprus, an island country in the Eastern Mediterranian Sea. It gained independence in 1960.
