Object Description
Small rectangular cutwork mat. The bottom features a large stem of ten grapes, with a leaf on either side, and vine designs behind the leaves The fabric is cream-colored, and the threading is more yellowish.
Origin
The cutwork technique originated during the Italian Renaissance during the 14th, 15th, and 16th centuries. This mat would be used as decoration or to protect the table surface.
