Object Description
Small metal pin. The trim around the edges is red. The inside is blue and the white font reads "Bakalis Durbin".
Origin
Richard Durbin was the Democratic candidate for lieutenant governor, running with gubernatorial contender Michael Bakalis. But the Bakalis-Durbin tandem lost to Republican Gov. James R. Thompson. Still ambitious, Durbin launched a 1982 run for the U.S. House seat held by Republican Paul Findley in the 20th Congressional District, a seat that is the linear descendant of the one once held by Abraham Lincoln. Durbin defeated the 11-term incumbent by a mere 1,410 votes.
