Plastic political pin. Metal backing. The text in blue and green reads:
"Vote for clean water

Water Reclamation District
Democrat"
There are printed designs of waves and drops of water.
Origin
Nicholas J. Melas (democrat) was elected in 1962 to the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago. Melas was re-elected 5 times, serving for 30 years; the last 18 as President of the Board. Nicholas J Melas Centennial Fountain is named after him and is located on the north bank of the Chicago River at McClurg Court in Near North Side, Chicago.

Nicholas J. Melas, U.S Army Vet WWII. Recipient of the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Beloved husband of Irene nee Prasopoulos. Two children: Christina and Elizabeth Melas. Grandfather of William (Danielle) Hunker, Nicole (Corey) Sandelius and Alexander Hunker. Great grandfather of Edward Hunker.
Died March 2013.
