Object Description
A piece of street art. The background is red and appears to have been made through sponge-painting. Pasted onto the background is a cut-out, black-and-white drawing of a small boy. The boy is looking slightly up and to his left. He is wearing large sunglasses and sticking out his tongue. He is wearing a white tank top. The tank top says I "heart" Life, whith "heart" being an actual heart painted red. The red paint is dripping down off the heart. The letters "STMTS" are written on the tank top, at the bottom right.
Origin
This artwork was donated by the Greek street artist STMTS. The artist prefers to remain anonymous. The work was part of an exhibit on Greet graffiti and street art. Street art has become prolific in Greece, especially in Athens, since the beginning of the Greek debt crisis in the late 2000s. Street art is a way for people to express themselves while remaining largely anonymous, and has emerged as a way for Greek artists to express their feelings and concerns about the economy and its effect on the Greek population.
