Object Description
A pin-back button. The button has a white background and light blue boarder. The button depicts two flags flying on poles. To the right is a Greek flag, and to the left and behind the Greek flag is an American flag. Under the flags is a colored area made up of many small blue dots. The bottom edge of the pin says "Apollo Jewelry Co., 106 Fulton Street., New York. The back is made of metal and has a non-fastening pin. There is a little bit of dirt and rust on the metal part and the metal is scratched.
Origin
This button was donated by Jenny Boondas. It was part of a collection belonging to her brother-in-law, Constantine Brown, who died in 2014. This button is probably from World War II. It was likely made for the Greek American community to support both the Greek and American efforts in the war or simply to show pride in the Greek-American community.
The Apollo Jewelry Company, now called Apollo Manufacturing, is a jewelry company based in New York.
