Object Description
Rectangular wood base with metal stamp plate. The metal stamp is silver with blue writing. The lettering is backwards for the purpose of the stamp. Lettering, when properly spelled out, is "g.o.y.a." at the top and then "Diocese II District I / Conference" at the bottom. A circular seal design is in the center of the stamp. Inside the seal is a border with the writing "GREEK ORTHODOX YOUTH OF AMERICA - GOYA". A Greek cross lies in the center of the seal and is surrounded by a circle with the words "live your orthodox faith". Also surounding this Greek cross is a scroll design on the bottom as well as heart-shaped leaves on the sides. There are also some engraved markings on the metal plate. One under the "a" and in the "o" in "g.o.y.a.", two in the central seal, and one above the last "e" in "Diocese".

Some ink residue remains on the stamp. Parts of the plate are slightly blue, similar to the color of the lettering, and there is darker grey residue somewhat resembling fingerprints. There is a circular piece of white foam attached to the right side of this stamp face.

On the right edge of the wood base, there is a black oval-shaped stamp. On the backside of the wood is a label with handwriting that says "Diocese of Chicago". There is also white residue on this side.
Origin
In the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, there is a Department of Youth and Young Adult Ministries. GOYA, standing for Greek Orthodox Youth of America, is a ministry within this department. The program works to educate and edify young members of the Church, encouraging them to become active sacramental participants in the life of the Body of Christ. GOYA is ministry to junior high to high school Orthodox Christian teenagers, and as such, there are two distinct groups, junior high GOYA and high school GOYA. GOYA's guidelines were published in 2006 by the Department of Youth and Young Adult Ministries.
