Object Description
Doll sized evzone shoe accessory with fez. Red shoe with gold stitching, black trim around the opening, and red, white, and blue yarn pouf ball at the toe. Two gold-colored sequins decorate either side. Plain brown interior. Gold stitching can be seen in the sole. Attached at the heel is a red, tan, and orange-colored and slightly bent stick with four gold buttons. These buttons have a slight greenish color. Attached at the end of the stick is a small red fez with a gold tassel. The fez has some dirt and dried glue on it. The red backing of the stick is coming off. A gold ribbon attached to the stick loops at the top.
Origin
Evzones is the name of historical elite infantry of the Greek army. Also known as Tsoliades. This doll-sized shoe is an accessory to their uniform. Only one shoe was donated--the whereabouts of its pair is unknown.
