Object Description
A small wood and metal shield-shaped honorary plaque. Polished wood base with silvery metal on top. On a golden piece at the top is engraved in Greek, "General Staff of National Defense". On another godlen piece in the center is a military logo labeled in Greek. at the bottom is a brassy metal piece with, "Presented by General Dimitrios Grapsas Chief, Hellenic National Defense General Staff Washington D.C. Nov. 19th '07" printed in black.
Origin
On the back is a label that explains, "This plaque is presented in recognition of the contribution of the American and Greek-American OSS/OGs Veterans, who fought alongside the Greek Resistance during the German occupation in 1944, as well as inrecognition of the individuals who contributed, in their own way, in making the story of theses courageous soldiers, known to the public. Washington D.C., 19th Nov. '07".
