Object Description
Metal plaque on a wooden base. The plaque is of heavy textured metal. There is a bust of a man in the top center. Around the portrait are these words in raised copper-colored metal: "The Ernest W. Thiele Award is presented with honor to George Thodos in recognition of his original and significant contributions to the practice of the chemical engineering profession in the Chicago area by the American institute of Chemical Engineers Chicago Section April 8, 1987".
Origin
Belonged to George Thodos, who was on the Faculty in Northwestern University's Chemical Engineering department.

The Ernest W. Thiele Award is awarded once yearly by the American Insitute of chemical Engineers to one member who has greatly contributed to the advancement of the field.
