Object Description
Doll of woman in traditional Greek costume. She has a orange color veil laying on her head and draped over her shoulders and coming down to about her waist. There is a lace boarder the is on the bottom front of the veil, the portion that lays over her chest, any other part has fallen off. At the start of the lace boarder, on the front side about an inch down from her face is a sequin holding the lace in place. She has on a jacket, cream (or possibly white at a previous time) with an inch wide boarder of the same orange color as the veil. over lapping the orange, there is a thin wavy embroidered strip in a peach like color the is on the boarder between the orange and white part of the jacket. There is also that same inch strip on the edges of the sleeves. The jacket comes down a little past the hips. Under the jacket she has on an apron. The apron comes up to the chest and down about two inches before floor length. It is in a light blue color, silk material. The bottom edge has a lace like patter sticked onto it. The same wavy strip that is on the jacket also boarders the apron. Also at the bottom half of the skirt there are five sequins, there may have been more at one point but they have fallen off. There is also a lace edge sewn onto the neck line, this one matches the one on the veil. There are three more sequins, one in the center of the neckline, set on top of the lace and the other two set about half an inch from one another. The skirt of the dress is white/cream like the jacket and also has an orange boarder that it an inch wide and also has the wavy peach colored stitch on the top of the orange portion.
She has black hair that is braided in two pigtails. Her face is plastic and slightly pinkish. Her cheeks are made to look flushed. She has small red lips and the nostrils of the nose are also defined in that same red. Her eyebrow are done in black and her eyes blue, with small red dots on the inside corner of the eye.

Donated by Betty Petrakis Raethz, but belonged to and made by Bertha Roudos. There is no particular region that this costume is designed from.
